This charming ring was made around the 1930’s using a popular style of setting known as illusion setting. This design uses platinum to make diamonds look bigger, or to give to look of diamonds where there are none! This ring has both an illusion set centre diamond, and the illusion of diamonds on the band. At a glance, you might think there are diamonds on the band of this ring, but that’s all just platinum cleverly designed to trick the eye.
The centre diamond is an old mine cut of approx 0.20ct (estimated in the setting), but with the illusion setting it looks closer to half a carat!
The diamond does have a large inclusion, but it’s only visible on close inspection or under magnification. The diamond is nicely cut and the setting is well crafted with beautiful details in platinum. The diamond is securely set and the ring is in great vintage condition, with minor surface wear and some scratches to the metal. Ready to wear!
